电流 (Current)
December 14th - 17th, 2019
Nanjing Eye Pedestrian Bridge, Nanjing, China
Lehmann Maupin is pleased to announce Tony Oursler’s Current, a special program of the Nanjing Art Season, publicly on view spanning the Nanjing Eye Footbridge and surrounding area. The New York-based artist recognized as the “father of American video sculpture” will debut his first Mandarin language piece, Current (2019), an extensive multimedia artwork of layered projections superimposed on the bridge’s architecture, the Nanjing Yangtze River , and the natural landscape of the area, creating a mystifying and mesmerizing spectacle of the supernatural. Examining issues of artificial intelligence, facial recognition, telecommunications, technology as a creative engine and the environment, Oursler masterfully combines his pioneering technological innovation with today’s most pressing issues. The immersive video installation kicks off Nanjing International Art Season concurrent with the Nanjing Art Fair International 2019.
